Good for Hair: Our silk pillowcases help keep hair smoother, sleeker and extend the life of a blowdry, which is why top hairdressers recommend a silk pillowcase to their clients.
Good For Skin: Dermatologists recommend the cumulative anti-aging benefits over your lifetime: sleeping on silk means your skin loses less moisture to your pillow, minimizes friction on your skin, especially for side sleepers. A silk pillowcase is both hypo-allergenic and anti-bacterial, so it’s skin-protective.
Good for Sleep: Luxurious and it is thermo-regulatory, silk naturally adjusts to the heat of your body, making for a better sleep experience.
How do I care for my Silk Pillowcase?
The ideal plan is to either hand wash your silk pillowcase or use the Delicates cycle on your washing machine. To keep silk at its best to use special washing liquids that are designed to care for your precious silk items. Your silk pillowcase will dry very quickly and naturally. You can use a gentle iron using the low heat silk setting to finish. Never bleach. I have accidentally washed my silk pillowcases with my cotton bed sheets on a 40-degree wash and it has suffered no ill-effects. Silk is a lot less delicate than you’d expect. So don’t panic if things don’t go according to plan A.
What size is your silk pillowcase?
Our pillowcase is 50cm x 75 cm or 20” x 30” and fits a standard size or queen size pillow.
YOUR HAIR: HOW SILK HELPS
Bye-bye bedhead
If you want to preserve a blow-dry and tame the frizziness of coarse hair, then a silk pillowcase can be a game-changer. Even high-quality smooth cotton pillowcases with a high thread count can cause friction on hair. Sleeping on a silk pillowcase is recommended for maintenance by many top hairstylists, as it smooths the hair, and significantly reduces static and frizz. It’s reported to reduce friction in women prone to hair loss, too.
What’s not to love?
Chemotherapy comfort
Cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy treatment find a silk pillowcase a source of cooling comfort for their scalps during sleep. Those who use a cold cap during chemo treatment to reduce hair loss suggest that a silk pillow can help the remaining hair stay smoother and snag-free.
Sleeping on Silk: Eyelash extensions
Eyelash treatment artists recommend to their clients to sleep on a silk pillowcase to protect and preserve their lashes following a lash extension or a lash lift treatment. Sleeping on silk can extend the life of lash extensions.
PROTECTING YOUR SKIN
Skin’s secret ally
When some of the world’s top dermatologists are quietly recommending silk pillowcases to their clients, you know it’s worth it. Silk reduces drag on the skin and minimises the chances of these pesky sleep lines – you know the ones that seem to get worse as we age and can linger ’til lunchtime?
In the short term, that’s one less thing to fret about in the morning routine.
Long term, dermatologists believe it has cumulative anti-aging benefits over your lifetime: sleeping on silk means your skin loses less moisture to your pillow, minimises friction on your skin, especially for side sleepers. A silk pillowcase is both hypo-allergenic and anti-bacterial, so it’s skin-protective.

SLEEP: THE SILK EXPERIENCE
Enhance your sleep with silk
We can’t claim any scientific studies yet that prove that a silk pillowcase enhances sleep. All we can vouch for is our own experience. The tactile smoothness, the aesthetic sweetness of silk on skin perfectly complements a good bedtime ritual: a slow soak in a tub, calming lavender on the pulse points, the gentle flicker of a candle or two, a favourite book, then a silk eye mask to carry you off to slumber. Have you drifted off yet? We find silk does enhance our sleep experience, both in terms of falling asleep and in maintaining sleep comfort through the night.
Try it, you won’t be disappointed. That’s our guarantee.
THERMO REGULATION: MENOPAUSE
Soothe menopause symptoms with silk
If ever there was a time when a woman needs a little extra self-care, it’s menopause. And this is where a silk pillowcase comes into its own. The nightmare of night sweats, that 60% of women experience at some point in perimenopause or menopause, can disrupt sleep, increase night wakings, and induce fatigue the following day. Menopause messes up the body’s thermostat and means that many women can’t tolerate the heat of manmade fabrics on their bodies or their bedding.
Natural fabrics are the answer – they help skin to breathe easily. And silk, with its exceptional thermo-regulation and air permeability properties, can keep the body cool and comfortable during those dreaded night sweats. It becomes nicely warm when the weather gets cooler, too.
A silk pillowcase is a smart solution for better sleep during the menopause years.
